What we ask for, and why.
Last updated 15 September 2026.
Plainly: we ask for what we need to send you a Zoom link and to check that you are part of the military community. We do not sell your information, rent it, or trade it. The optional questions are genuinely optional, and skipping them changes nothing about your registration. Write to us and we will delete your record.
What we ask when you register
The four we need
Your name, email, branch affiliation and status. The first two are how we send your personal Zoom link and your calendar invite. The second two are because these sessions are for the military community, and someone checks every registration by hand before approving it.
The ones that help us help you
Your city and state, what brings you here, where you are in your journey, what would make this a win for you, and how you heard about us. These let us point you toward resources near you, get your time zone right, and choose topics people actually asked for. All optional.
The ones that are nobody's business unless you want to tell us
Your age range, primary language, ethnic or racial identity, and any accommodations we should know about. These exist so we can see who we are reaching and, more usefully, who we are not reaching yet. Every one of them is optional, every one has a “prefer not to say,” and leaving them all blank has no effect on anything.
When these appear in anything that leaves the organization — a grant report, a partner summary — they appear as totals only, never attached to a name. The accommodations box is a free-text field, and what you write there is used to make a session work for you and for nothing else.
The other two forms
The speaker, mentor and partner forms on the Contact page ask for your name, email, organization, and whatever you choose to write. The lost-link form in the Meeting Room asks for your email address and nothing else.
Who else sees it
We use four outside services to run the community. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job.
The optional questions never leave that working list. Your age range, language, ethnic or racial identity and accommodations are not sent to Zoom, and they are not sent to Resend. They stay in the registration record.
Attendance, and what we do not do with it
We keep a list of who attended each session. It exists for one reason: so the people who were in the room can be sent the handout and the resources afterwards, and the people who registered but could not make it can be sent the same material with a different note. Zoom holds the original record; our copy is rebuilt from it.
We do not score, rank or rate your participation. There is no count of hours attached to you, no engagement figure, no completion record, and nothing you are assessed against. MilSpouseU™ is a peer community, not a school, and the attendance list is for reaching people rather than ranking them.
What we never do
- ✓ We never sell, rent or trade your information.
- ✓ We never hand it to advertisers.
- ✓ We never publish your name or your words without asking you first, in writing, and showing you exactly what would appear.
- ✓ We never pass your registration to Di Nola Consulting's paid courses as a sales list. The community and the courses are separate, and registering here does not put you on a list for anything you have to pay for.
How long we keep it
Your registration record stays for as long as you are part of the community, and for two years after the last session you attend. Then we delete it. If you registered and never made it to a session, the same two years run from the day you registered.
The attendance lists are kept for one year. They exist so we can send the handout and the resources to the people who were in the room, and a year is longer than that purpose needs. Zoom keeps its own record of its meetings under its own policy; ours is a copy, and deleting ours does not reach into theirs.
Messages you send through the speaker, mentor and partner forms are kept as ordinary correspondence, the same as any other email you might write to us.
None of this stops you asking sooner. If you write and ask us to delete your record, we delete it — we do not hold it to the end of a retention period first.
Your choices
Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and using it stops the mail without removing you from the community — your join link keeps working.
Write to drdinola@militaryspouseuniversity.org and we will, on request:
- ✓ Tell you everything we hold about you.
- ✓ Correct anything that is wrong.
- ✓ Delete your record — from our working list, from our email service, and from the Zoom registrant list. You do not have to give a reason, and we will not ask for one.
Children
This community is for adult Military Spouses and partners. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has registered, write to us and we will remove the record.
If you are stationed overseas
We are a United States organization and our services are hosted in the United States, so registering means your information is handled there. A good number of Military Spouses are stationed abroad, and some of those countries give you rights we are not automatically subject to. Write to us if you have a question about that — we would rather answer it than have you guess.
Changes to this notice
If we change what we collect or who sees it, we will change this page and update the date at the top. We will not quietly widen what we do with information you already gave us.
